Press Release!!!!!

Here is Josie's Press Release for Mason County Journal:

Go Nerdy and Proud!!!

Pioneer Nerdy and Proud First Robotics Team Goes To Competition!

It was December 3rd, when my team, Nerdy and Proud, entered the door to Jefferson Middle School (where our competition was held). We weren’t nervous, mainly because we were excited! We were there because for 3 months we worked on a robot that could accomplish various missions. When we got to the pits, I was surprised by how small it was. I mean, I thought we were going to a huge stadium! We set up for the competition by putting up our poster board and setting up the team movie on our mom’s MacBook Pro. We added the final touch to the robots, and the competition began! We got pulled out for questions and demonstrations of our project, the robot, and we were tested on core values such as “gracious professionalism” where the judges assessed how well our team worked together. Then we did the practice competitions in the pit area. Finally, we got to the 3 rounds of the real deal. We didn’t do too good, though. We got 11th place out of 20 teams. However, when it came to the awards ceremony, we each got a participation medal and our team won the “Most Inspirational” trophy. The most important thing we learned at the robotics competition is that “gracious professionalism” is what F.I.R.S.T. Robotics is all about!
