Robotics News EV3

    We've reported on all news Pioneer Robotics, and your probably wondering, what about the other worlds of FLL? Well, I can confirm that there is lots going on here.... Namely the release of the new NXT.... The EV3!

     The EV3 is complete with an SD card slot, a blue tooth 2.1 version installed, and a built-in gyroscope!

     The EV3 will be released this summer for $350.00, which is an OK price. With a compatibility with android and iOS systems, this 3rd generation is where it's at!

Battle of the Battle Bots

   ATTENTION! ATTENTION! IT'S TIME FOR THE LEGENDARY BATTLE OF THE BATTLE BOTS!

     The Nerdy and Proud robotics is preparing for a new kind of competition! This competition is called Battle Bots! Each team is expected to create an anonymous robot that will fight each other in a battle. Here's how each team is progressing!

Audrey and Lexi

Robot Name: Good Job

Note: A robot with it's own catchphrase! 

What it does: Moves up two times, then says "good job!"

Tristen 

Robot Name: I Don't Know Yet

Note: Still in pieces...

Note 2: I made an attachment for it!!!!

Strategy: To detect other robot, then flip it.

What it does: It can't do anything! It's still in pieces! DUH!

Brandon

Robot Name: Robo

Note: This robot is built for success!

Strategy: Push robot out of circle using it's strength and durability.

What it does: Nothing yet. 

 

Charles

Robot Name: NXT CS

Note: It's a programming protégée in the making! 

Strategy: Run and turn, using it's big wheels.

What it does: Nothing yet. 

Tyler

Robot Name: Bill

Note: Creative name!

Strategy: N/A

What it does: Play battle bots!

Gabriel and Caleb

Robot Name: Bob

Note: Currently in repair...

Strategy: Follows the black line.

What it does: Follows the black line!

WINNERS!

    WE WON THE SPACE ELEVATOR COMPETITION!

   We had two teams: Josie, Charles, and Alex. They entered the almost anything goes competition with teenagers, and used a small robot. They got 2nd!

   Next was Guy, Grace, and Audrey. They entered the Lego Only competition, with a HUGE robot, and got 1st.

   We won 150$. Here are some pics:
